Keynote Speaker for 2010 Fall Conference

mcanallen

This year's keynote speaker will be Rachel McAnallen. Known simply as Ms. Math, she is the founder of The Institute for Math Mania. Her unique perspective and love of math have been enjoyed by many in her presentations around the nation. Don't miss her speaking engagement with UCTM on November 19!

Nature by Numbers

This new video by Cristóbal Vila beautifully illustrates how mathematical properties, such as the Fibonacci Sequence, are all around us in the natural world. We loved this awe inspiring combination of mathematics, nature, and art!

Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching PDF Print E-mail
The Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) is the highest recognition that a kindergarten through 12th-grade mathematics or science teacher may receive for outstanding teaching in the United States. One science and one math teacher from each state receive the award each year. The teachers are recognized for their contributions to teaching and learning and their ability to help students make progress in mathematics and science. In addition to honoring individual achievement, the goal of the award program is to exemplify the highest standards of mathematics and science teaching. Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education.

For more information about the award or to nominate a teacher, please visit http://www.paemst.org.
